Mural and Party Scene Setters

by

Elaborate parties and special occasions deserve the added time and effort to create special mural and party scene setters. For a small investment in terms of paint, brushes, plywood and crown molding a very dramatic affect can be accomplished. A labor intensive effort – yes but an impossible task: no. An ordinary person with basic hand tools and minimal skills can create a beautiful backdrop which will turn an otherwise bleak basement or garage into anything the imagination can conjure.

This does call for some small amount of planning and preparation but the results will be worth the effort. First things first: decide on a party theme. This should be a fairly involved theme. Instead of just choosing a favorite cartoon character choose a favorite cartoon featuring a favorite cartoon and so on. This will allow for more elaborate mural and party scene setters. Then find lots of reference photos. These will need to be scanned or downloaded and printed. Next choose a color scheme that can be easily reflected in paper party goods and other decorations to draw the overall party d?cor together.

Next decide on the scale of the objects to be created. Then draw a grid on the reference photo or photos. Draw a corresponding grid on the pre-constructed mural and party scene setters which reflect the desired scale. One fourth inch to one inch for instance or one inch to one foot for a larger piece. Then use some method of transferring each square on the reference print to the corresponding grid on the larger work. Many with artistic leanings can sketch these freehand others may want to use an enlarging projector. Some printers can enlarge the reference picture in segments that can be traced using carbon paper.

Then just paint. Voila! The basement is Camelot!

Disney Princess Party Games

by

These two Disney Princess party games are sure to cause a fit of the giggles amongst your guests. So be sure to have plenty of room to roll around holding your stomach at this party.

The first game called ‘Cinders Slippers’ is a perfect fit for this Disney Princess party. As each of the guests arrive have them remove one shoe and place it in a pile of other guest’s shoes in the center of the room. Be sure to remind everyone to wear good socks if they don’t plan on wearing sandals.

Then after everyone has arrived tell everyone to grab a shoe from the pile. It can’t be their own shoe. At your mark everyone has to run around trying to find the owner of the shoe they are holding. The last person to be matched with a shoe is the winner and gets a prize for being Cinderella or Cinderfella at this fun Disney Princess party.

For this next game called, ‘Steal a Gift’ you’ll need one gift for everyone at the party and a pair of dice for each group. If you want you can theme the gifts after the Disney Princess party and have items like tiaras and magic wands. You’ll want to divide your party into three groups with an equal number of gifts piled in the center of each group. One player in each group takes a turn rolling the dice. If the player rolls a 7 or an 11 they get to take one gift for themselves from the pile. Then the next player in the group rolls and so on. If any player rolls two 1′s or two 6′s then they must return one gift to the pile if they have one. Once a group has run out of disney princess gifts in their pile then the players can snatch a gift from another group’s pile if they roll the 7 or 11 and vice versa.

You’ll set a time limit for all of this gift stealing of about 10 minutes. At the end of the time the players get to pick one gift of their choosing from the piles they’ve managed to amass. This works better if you mix in a few really good gifts with the rest of the gifts. If there are any players without gifts, as there are likely to be, they must wait until everyone has picked their gifts from their piles and then choose from the left over disney princess party gifts. If there are a lot of players without gifts have each roll the dice to decide which order they will go in to pick a gift from the leftover piles. You are sure to develop a lot of competition at your next Disney Princess party.

Event Planner – The Benefits of Hiring One

by

An event planner who helps brides and grooms plan their special day is called a wedding consultant, wedding planner, wedding coordinator or a bridal consultant. This planner specializes in planning weddings professionally.

Using a wedding consultant to plan your wedding day had always been viewed as a luxury that only the rich and famous enjoyed. This is not so much the case anymore and the number of people using wedding planners continues to rise every day.

Planning a wedding can be like a full time job if a bride decides to go it alone. This type of event involves a lot of time with so much to learn and do and often not enough time to do it all. This event planner has to be highly organized and always knows what to do if things go wrong. He/she knows exactly who to contact when the need arises.

A professional wedding planner has to be extremely creative by nature. He or she also needs to have a very good sense of style and know what trends are current and which ones are outdated. The event planner also needs to have a personality that connects well with clients in order to understand them and to have a clear picture of their personal and specific needs for their special day.

A good event planner has lots of connections with the best vendors and works at getting his/her client the best value for their money. There is usually a budget to maintain and endless details tailored to the bride and groom. A wedding planner can also save the bride and groom a lot of money as well as time. This is because they usually know which vendors are reasonably prized and the quality of work involved. The event planner is usually in a better position to negotiate and get discounts from vendors they have worked with before.

Event planners will help their clients avoid disasters at their functions because they oversee all of the operations of the day to the last detail. Should there be an emergency at the event, the planner is usually better prepared to deal with the crisis rather than having the client try to figure out what to do.

The costs involved in hiring such a professional may be surprisingly affordable given the amount of details they have to work with. Planners also tailor their cost according to the client’s budget and help them to stay within their budget.

Without a wedding planner on hand, many brides and grooms run themselves ragged as the wedding day approaches. Some couples have even complained of not enjoying their wedding day because of the stress. An event planner comes in handy at this point because the couple has nothing to worry about since all the details are taken care of. The end result of having an event planner or a wedding consultant, in this case, is well worth it. The clients end up with a stress free day and they are able to enjoy every moment of their special occasion.

Surprise Party Ideas and Planning

by

There are a lot of fun ways that you can incorporate a surprise party into your celebration. If you think the guest of honor would enjoy it some ideas are birthdays, anniversaries, retirement or any other congratulatory type party.

When making the guest list you will of course go according to the guest of honor’s address book. Friends, family, business associates or people from the past making a great starting point when sending out your invitations. If, for example, it=s a 50th birthday celebration, you could urge guests to bring an old photo to share. Whatever you decide, make sure to let everybody know it’s a surprise and not to spill the beans!

The photos people bring along will serve as a great party favor. They could be given to the guest of honor or tacked up on a bulletin board to be displayed. For a more in depth collage, try gathering photos ahead of time to create more elaborate displays.

Having a personalized banner made would give you a center piece for your decorations. A guest book could be used, or for a more original idea have a couple of markers on hand for party-goers to sign the banner and write a short message. This is a great party favor for the guest of honor to take home to be either put on display or tucked away as a keepsake.

When choosing the setting of your party, consider all of this person’s favorite places. It could be anything from a restaurant to a golf dome. You should arrange a date of two to four people to go out to this place. By doing this, they will not suspect there is anything more to come. All the party-goers can be ready and waiting when the small group arrives.

If the surprise party is held at home, all of the decorations can be found at a party supply store. Plates, cups, crepe paper and balloons come in many colors to coordinate with any theme. A party planning specialist will help you coordinate all of your needs for the big surprise!

A Couple Bratz Party Games

by

These Bratz Party Games can make any sleepover or birthday party more interesting for you and your guests. Just be sure to have an antidote for the giggles on hand.

This first game is called ‘Taste Buds’. You’ve probably heard of this concept before, but it makes for a fun activity and an excuse to eat some more food. You’ll need blindfolds for each of the players at the bratz party, a collection of different drinks and enough cups for everyone, and pencil and paper for yourself.

Have the players put on their blindfolds and sample the first drinks. Then each will call out what they think the drink is. You can start out easy with some of the more distinctive drinks like grape soda pop. Some suggestions are; chocolate milk, regular milk, lemon water, lemon juice, coffee, cool-aid and sodas like lemon lime, grape, and root beer. The person who guesses the most drinks correctly wins. If you find more than one person has the same amount of correct guesses then you can hold a show off and add some more unusual liquids like; soy sauce, chicken broth and even gravy. If the guests at the bratz party are too squeamish to try the game then don’t try and force them into it, to keep the party in good spirits.

The second game is called, ‘knots’. It’s a fun puzzle game that will take all the hands and minds of your guests at the bratz party to solve. Have all the players stand in a circle with their hands place in the center of the group. This can only be used for up to ten people, because the circle starts to get too big otherwise. With everyone in a circle have the players close their eyes and hold hands with one of the many other hands in the circle. Keep your eyes closed as you are doing this and do not to hold hands with some one close to you or hold both hands with the same person. Each hand holds a different hand.

Once everyone is holding hands, you can all open your eyes and try to undo the knot that’s been created by rearranging yourselves and getting back into a circle. Don’t worry about keeping a death grip on the hands you are holding, its good enough to maintain hand contact with that person. Be aware that you may never solve the knot no matter how hard you try, but it is a fun game for the bratz party theme and everyone should end up giggling.

Are you looking for some tips which can help you in organizing a successful birthday party. A child`s birthday party is an important part of family life. Organizing a successful and entertaining party is a bit difficult task. But you can organize an excellent party by following some tips and techniques.

It is a good idea to prepare a checklist before you start anything. Prepare the list of supplies which you will need. You should also prepare the list of friends and relatives who will be invited in the party.

Event planning is a stressful task. You can relieve your stress if you opt for themed birthday parties. You can save lots of time and money if you will organize a theme based event. A theme is designed around a topic or a character. A theme cam be designed according to the interests of your child. It is a good idea to discuss the theme with your child before you buy anything new. A party package contain almost everything which is needed in a birthday party. A gift can also be bought according to the theme of the party.

A party package contains cups, plates, table covers, napkins, hats, invitation cards and thank notes. It is a good idea to go through all the categories which are provided by the online stores selling party theme packages. After choosing the package you should check all the items which are included in the package. You don`t have to buy all the items of the package. You can even select the things which you need. You can save some money if you opt to buy for a complete package. There are many websites and online stores which offer a significant discount on party packages.

There are some steps which you have to follow while planning a party. The first thing you have to do after buying the supplies is to prepare the invitation cards for the guests. The invitation cards are included in the party package. On the day of party every thing can be arranged in some minutes. The first thing you have to do is to arrange the table and the table cover. After putting the table cover you can arrange the cups and plates on the table. The birthday cake can be placed in the centre of the table. There are many families which design the birthday cake according to the theme of the event. You can even arrange the games and the activities according to the birthday supplies you have bought.

I would like to tell about a theme which I personally like. Recently I have read about a birthday party theme related to military camouflage. Your child and his friends can really enjoy this theme. The package not only contains the basic supplies but also camouflage hats for children.

There are lots of event themes available in the market and everything depends on your budget and the interests of your child. I would recommend you to spend some time in researching the topic before you buy something for your child`s birthday.

Halloween Party Entertaining – Last Minute Tips

by

It is two weeks before Halloween and you have had a brilliant stroke of genius. This is the year you will throw a Halloween bash for your family and friends! Yikes, did I say it is two weeks before Halloween? You need some ideas for entertaining and you need them quickly. While two weeks is definitely cutting it close, you can still pull off a fun and enjoyable bash for your guests in a flash.

When feeding a crowd choose an easy menu and fill in with some terrific purchased food. Here are a few easy entertaining ideas . Prepare all the small munchies and a tasty fall salad with pears, nuts and blue cheese yourself. Some examples of small munchies are dips with veggies, pita chips or tortilla chips. Also, any easy bite-size appetizers such as hot wings, taquitos, sushi or potstickers. Also, serve mini-cupcakes decorated for Halloween, purchased popcorn balls or caramel apples for a little something sweet on the menu. Purchase tamales from a favorite restaurant for the main entr?e. This really takes the pressure off from having to prepare the entire menu. Order the tamales at least 1 week before your party. If you wish to offer cocktails, make a “cocktail of the evening” such as apple martinis and prepare in advance in pitchers so you are not spending all your time bartending. Have an assortment of other beverages like beer, wine, apple cider, soda and water.

Invite guests via an e-vite. There are many great sites that offer free invitations. Your guests can RSVP online and even get a map to your home. This method gets the invitation to them quickly since you are short on time. Send these ASAP to give guests as much time as possible.

I would recommend that you make costumes optional. Some guests really get into getting dressed up and others – not so much. Since time is short, it may be too hectic for all of your guests to get a costume and you would hate for them to pass on your party because of that reason alone. You can always hand out small festive masks from a party supply store as guests arrive.

Download music from the internet and make your own custom Halloween party mix. Record songs like “Spooky” by Smokey Robinson, “Monster Mash”, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Ghostbusters” and other fun songs that set the mood.

Instead of exhausting yourself trying to decorate your entire house, focus on the table where the food will be presented. Purchase 3 pumpkins of different sizes. The morning of your party, hollow them out and cut out a different face on each one. Put a votive candle in each one and arrange in a grouping towards the back of your food table. Use a large upside down soup pot under the table cloth to put one pumpkin at a different height. Light the candles right before your guests arrive to create ambiance. (Note: Always use caution when using lit candles). Use a tablecloth in festive fall colors. Purchase paper goods at a party supply store. To save money, purchase plain orange or black plates with clear plastic utensils and glasses. Strategically place small black or orange votive candles and dishes of nuts and Halloween candies (such as candy corn, black licorice, etc.) around the house for added festivity.

If you would like to have some games or activities, simply do a quick internet search of “Halloween party games”. There are plenty of sites that have a variety of free games for both kids and adults. Choose 2 or three easy games for your party.

Pace yourself and do your party supply shopping a week before your party. Decide on easy recipes for a crowd and do your grocery shopping 2 days before and prepare as much of the food as you can in advance. Decorate the buffet table the morning of your bash and give yourself a bit of time two hours before your party starts to get dressed and ready.

Greet your guests at the door and welcome each one to your home and you will immediately put them at ease. Make introductions to guests who may not know each other well. And one last thing. Have lots of fun with your guests at your party!

If you concentrate your efforts on the food, the table and the warm tone that you set as host you will pull off a spooktacular Halloween party in the nick of time!

Cupcake Party Planning

by

So you’ve decided to a cupcake theme party. Aren’t your guests lucky! Of course we know what you’ll serve for dessert but what else can you do to incorporate the theme into your party.

You can set the stage for your party by sending out cupcake shaped invitations. In it request that they bring a short ‘ode to the cupcake’ with them to be shared at the party, such as my favorite: “small and sweet I do desire, just big enough for one. Unfortunately I eat 10 at a time and now I weigh a ton”. Make sure you give them an example. And once they arrive have everyone write down their ‘fantasy cupcake’. At some point in the party hand out pencil and paper to everyone and as each one is read aloud (by the host) ask your guests to write down who they think authored it. The one who guessed the most correctly wins a small prize. And also vote on which poem is the best and that person will also win a small prize.

Investing in a cupcake stand will not only showcase the party’s dessert in a beautiful way – but it can also serve as your centerpiece!

At the party you can have everyone decorate a cupcake to take home with them (not necessarily the gorgeous cupcakes you have planned to serve – you want those to steal the show!). Provide unfrosted cupcakes, 2 or 3 frosting choices and LOTS of embellishments (sprinkles, nuts, candies, nuts, etc.). Don’t forget to have cupcake boxes on hand so that guests can take their creations home).

If you’re not sending your guests home with cupcakes, then send them home with cute cupcake party favors. These can easily be found and can include cupcake shaped bookmarks, faux cupcake photo holders, cupcake shaped candles to just name a few. You can even present the favors in a small cupcake shaped favor bag!

Wishing you delicious fun at your cupcake party!
